The SAP Business All-in-one solution remains squarely in Gartner’s ERP Magic Quadrant ‘leaders’ category while Epicor ERP maintains its ‘visionary’ status for the fourth consecutive year…

Gartner has published its ERP Magic Quadrant 2013 which focuses on evaluating ERP systems that support a single instance strategy for multi-entity midmarket and upper-midmarket companies, causing celebration for vendors attaining sought-after placements.

This year SAP Business All-in-one has remained in the leaders quadrant for the third consecutive year, maintaining last year’s pole position as highest in “ability to execute” and furthest in “completeness of vision”, while IFS Applications has moved from being a challenger to a leader this year.

Bobby Vetter, senior vice president, partner solution management and enablement, SAP, said of the placing, “SAP is committed to developing innovative solutions to address the technology needs of the midmarket. We believe this recognition from Gartner underscores that our efforts are in line with the needs of this space. SAP Business All-in-One is designed to be scalable, mobile and easy-to-implement, helping our global customers achieve business value in order to grow their business.”

Rob Stummer, Managing Director at IFS Australia and New Zealand, said, “We are very pleased to be recognised as a leader in this industry sector. Successfully launching IFS Applications 8 in 2012 has enabled our customers to benefit from many product improvements in such areas as user experience, mobile workforce, business intelligence, cloud computing, and global business […] We believe our overall strategy, steadfast focus on quality, and offering our customers true business value is gaining traction in the market and being validated by commentary within the industry…”.

Gartner describes leaders as not necessarily the largest in terms of revenue but demonstrating “a clear vision and the Ability to Execute against this vision” with a proven track record and momentum in growing their market presence and a compelling strategy for dealing with on-going market changes.

Meanwhile, Epicor ERP has been placed in the ‘visionaries’ category for the fourth consecutive year. Gartner describes the vendors of products in the visionary quadrant as having “a compelling vision for achieving a differentiated position in the market (such as addressing some of the trends that Gartner defines as the Nexus of Forces), having a full SOA/model-driven packaged application strategy, and offering high ease of use, implementation and operation”.

It notes, however that while visionaries might have compelling product strategies, they lack the market momentum or have not yet reached full market presence, partly due to the newness of recently introduced innovations.

Speaking about the placement, Pervez Qureshi, president and CEO of Epicor said: “We believe our four consecutive placements in the ‘Visionaries’ quadrant are testament to our customer-centric focus and commitment to design and implement software solutions that help businesses achieve the agility and flexibility today’s global environment demands.

“Our innovative approach to architecture, mobility, embedded analytics and built-in business process management gives our customers unprecedented choice and flexibility in a single solution — whether they choose to deploy on-premise, as a managed service, or in the cloud.”

Last year Epicor ERP was the only system to feature in the visionaries quadrant, however, this year it has been joined by Microsoft Dynamics AX which has moved from across the line from the leaders quadrant.
