Promapp secures Callaghan

Cloud business process management (BPM) vendor awarded R&D Growth Grant…

By securing a Callaghan Innovation Growth Grant which will provide access to funding of up to $5M per year, New Zealand’s Promapp is boosting investment in product development as it steps up global operations, with a particular focus on the United States.

With an office already established in San Francisco, MD Ivan Seselj said it is looking to grow headcount and potentially add a second office on the East Coast through 2016.

But he noted that the Callaghan funding will go towards product development. “[The grant] will allow us to add scale to our R&D investment enabling us to increase our development team by 50 percent. This will support and accelerate the evolution of our products, enabling us to add new functionality and features for our customers.”

Securing the funding is no picnic, Seselj noted, adding that a stringent process is followed to ensure taxpayer money is well allocated. “It is public money and that’s tightly controlled, so we have to be transparent and accountable, providing a full audit trail.”

Promapp’s BPM software is designed to replace hardcopy procedures manuals which tend to languish in dusty cupboards well outside of the reach of those who might need them. Freshly back from the Process Excellence Week exhibition in Florida, and with several US customers on board, Seselj said ‘the problem of procedures manuals being out of sight’ is broadly recognised, affirming the value Promapp can add.

He said product innovation is key to the company’s market expansion plans, while the recent appointment of a consulting partner will support channel growth in the US market. “And we intend to increase the Promapp sales team by more than 35 percent.”
