Coles, Chorus, Auckland Council, NSW RFS among winners…

Coles has snapped up two awards in the third SAP Best Run Awards for A/NZ with a who’s who of local organisations including Chorus, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Lion and Auckland Council, among this year’s winners.

Coles took out the Best Run SAP Network and Spend Management category and also claimed the Human Resources and People Management award, alongside Veolia. Coles wins came on the back of a SAP SuccessFactors implementation – carried out alongside a move of Payroll to the cloud and concurrent projects deploying Ariba and S/4 HANA for finance – to create an end to end ‘transformation of the company’s systems.

The awards highlight new ways of thinking, disruptive use cases and the deployment of technologies that set the benchmark for their industry.

The company’s upgrade to S/4 Hana to integrate Ariba, which won it the Network and Spend Management category, was dubbed one of the largest back of house transformations for Coles and digitised and integrated key procurement processes including vendor registration, sourcing and invoicing.

The awards, open to any customers and partners, aim to highlight companies using new ways of thinking, disruptive use cases and the deployment of technologies that set the benchmark for their industry.

NSW Rural Fire Service took out the Best Run SAP Data and Analytics category for the second year in a row for its use of SAP Analytics Cloud predictive analytics to provide planning, simulation, forecasting and other capabilities.

The RFS says it now spends less time number crunching and more time analysing business data, enabling them to unlock powerful insights.

“For example, during the devastating fires of the 2019/20 summer, they were able to quickly analyse and re-prioritise invoice fulfilment towards the businesses and communities most in need.”

Chorus was named Industry Disruptor, for setting ‘a new industry benchmark for disputes management and collections on network damages’. The Kiwi telco, which worked with Zag on the project, says as a result of the project it now has a single place to manage collections and case management activity, eliminating prior duplication of effort across multiple systems. The queries and disputes processes are now largely automated and disputes management is around 30 percent more efficient. The company expects $600,000 incremental damage recoveries every year, a 10 percent increase on its plan.

Damien Bueno, SAP ANZ managing director, says the calibre of nominations this year is testament to the innovation of customers and partners across Australia and New Zealand.

“What’s more, achieving this through another year impacted by the pandemic demonstrates the resilience and drive of our ecosystem,” he says.

Lion took out the CRM and Customer Experience category, for an ambitious transformation programme to create ‘the Next Generation Lion’ utilising SAP CX cloud applications including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Cloud for Social Engagement.

Rheem’s Service Cloud and Field Service Management implementation, providing visibility and accessibility across core employee and customer experiences, saw the company win the Digital Supply Chain award.
