Top international tech experts will descend on Auckland this June to show just how CIOs can drive digi-tech disruption…

Taking place 13 and 14 June at SkyCity in Auckland, this year’s CIO Summit and Awards 2018 event – organised by Conferenz and IDC – will focus on the role CIOs play in driving innovation through ICT.

“The disruptive influence of digital technology is being felt by us all in everyday life,” says IDC Australia and New Zealand managing director Iggy Pintado.

“No matter the vertical industry or sector of the economy, your digital capability interfaces with customers, suppliers and partners and increasingly defines the winners. The CIO has a pivotal role to play to be both relevant and effective in engaging with internal stakeholders and then in delivering real change to digital channels.”

Pintado also says that the high calibre of speakers and attendees at the CIO Summit makes it a “vital platform” for CIOs and other digital leaders to engage with and learn from peers.

Loic Tallon, chief digital officer at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art will be in attendance as keynote speaker, addressing the challenge of bringing 5,000 years of art to life through digital engagement. Attendees will also hear about the digital initiatives undertaken by Toll Group Australia, Auckland Council and the University of Tasmania.

Other speakers include Justine Burn, CIO at AA Insurance; Hilary Walton, Manager Enterprise Business Systems at Airways NZ; Mike Cunnington, Deputy Commissioner Information Intelligence & Communications at Inland Revenue; Jolie Hodson, CEO at Spark Digital and Gary Adey, Operations Director, Group Enterprise at Vodafone PLC.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the fixture provides several forums for networking in formal and informal settings including roundtables, masterclasses and an exposition of top vendors and solution providers. More than 800 senior technology executives and their teams are expected to attend.

The culmination of the event is the Gala Dinner at which the CIO Awards are announced in six categories:  CIO of the Year Award, Emerging ICT Leader of the Year, Business Transformation through Digital and IT, Engaging Youth in ICT and Best ICT Team Culture. The judges will also announce the recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Technology and Business in New Zealand Award.

Conferenz Managing Director Steve Scott says the quality of entries shows the impressive digital capabilities of many New Zealand businesses, with innovation and digital enlightenment at the fore across categories.

“These awards are coveted as they provide a notable professional achievement for both the winning individuals and their teams. For New Zealand to continue driving innovation through ICT we must celebrate and hold to high acclaim the individuals contributing to our collective success,” he says.

The Summit is taking place on 13 and 14 June at SkyCity in Auckland with Super Saver ticket pricing expiring 18 April – buy tickets here.
