ESRI founder Jack Dangermond to present keynote address at Annual GIS Senior Executive Summit in Wellington…

Jack Dangermond, a trailblazer in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), will be presenting the keynote address at the 6th Annual GIS Senior Executive Summit to be held in Wellington on March 9.

The annual summit – to be kicked off with an address from Land Information Minister Maurice Williamson – brings together all of the industry leaders across both the public and private sectors.

“We are very pleased that Mr Dangermond is able to attend this year’s summit and we believe that Dangermond’s address and subsequent discussion with senior decision makers at the summit will inform and influence the future direction of the industry in New Zealand” says Gary Langford, CEO of Eagle Technology which is the exclusive distributor for ESRI in New Zealand.

“Mr Dangermond last addressed this audience in 2005, and the application and awareness of spatial data has grown exponentially in the interim due in no small part to the substantial usage and awareness of mass market offerings from the likes of Google, Microsoft and Oracle.”

Since Mr Dangermond founded ESRI in 1969 the company has become a global market leader in GIS.  ESRI software is now used in more than 300,000 organizations worldwide including each of the 200 largest cities in the United States, most national governments, more than two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies, and more than 7,000 colleges and universities.

In New Zealand there are over 300 organisations using the software including all of the primary local authorities representing the new Auckland supercity.
