Powerco, the New Zealand electricity and gas distribution network, had run its ERP and GIS systems side by side with only one-way integration from GIS into ERP – leaving asset data split across two disconnected systems during a greenfield S/4HANA implementation.
Powerco worked with Zag, now part of Accenture, to deploy SAP GEO.E and SAP GEF for full two-way integration between S/4HANA and Esri’s GIS platform – one of the first deployments of its kind globally – then added SAP GEF Explorer so any business user could visualise, select and edit asset data directly from a map inside S/4HANA.
Every Powerco employee can now access and interact with asset information directly within S/4HANA, supporting a five-year network renewal programme that depends on repairing or replacing the right assets in the right place at the right time.
