Locally developed software performance product to take on the world…
Equinox IT recently launched Wild Strait, a company named for the infamously turbulent body of water which separates the North and South Islands, which is to take the almost-eponymous Wild Strait Performance Intelligence product to market.
In a statement, Equinox IT said the product was developed over the last three years and integrates with Microsoft Visual Studio Enterprise and Tableau business intelligence software. It is used by performance testers and developers to ‘substantially reduce the time and cost to ensure that web-based business systems are stable and respond quickly’.
“Wild Strait is yet another example of a Wellington company exploring smarter, better ways to tackle complex challenges and taking that innovation to the world,” said Equinox IT chairman Kim Wicksteed. “[this company and product] will make a difference to organisations around the world that increasingly depend on software for their key business activities.”
Wild Strait’s launch drew the support of Xero’s Rod Drury.
Asked how Wild Strait differs from the many other performance and testing products available on the market, Equinox MD Roger Dalgleish pointed to two features, one of which is greater automation of test scripting – particularly useful for testing new application releases – with the other being is improved problem diagnosis thanks to the integrated business intelligence. “This can save tens to hundreds of hours of scripting effort per application release. It truly is faster, better, cheaper,” he said.
The product is in use at present, Dalgleish revealed, with customers including a large government department, an insurance company and ‘an international software product company’. That company is not, however, Xero, he confirmed.
Wild Strait is being taken to market internationally through a partnership model. “We will initially build our international business through strategic partnerships with application vendors and large scale consultancies. While we are responding to offshore interest, our immediate priority is to build a customer base, build reference-ability here and actively engage offshore in 2016,” Dalgliesh said.
The new company is co-located with Equinox IT in both its Wellington and Auckland offices.
