In partnership with Microsoft, Fujitsu New Zealand has introduced Hybrid Cloud Services which combine its local expertise with Microsoft’s Azure platform in Australia…
With the introduction of its Hybrid Cloud Services, Fujitsu NZ MD Stuart Stitt said the company’s focus is on optimising the use of public and private cloud while taking into account data access and sovereignty requirements.
“We believe this is the most cost effective managed solution available to New Zealand businesses and government agencies,” he noted.
The Hybrid Cloud Services are part of Fujitsu’s approach to Hybrid IT, which it says is enabling businesses to find balance when embarking on their cloud journeys.
In a statement, the company said its Hybrid Cloud Services equip organisations to optimise cloud usage by developing a ratio of private cloud to public cloud based on workloads. With the Hybrid environment, capacity can be allocated to private cloud for more performance and security sensitive workloads, while moving other workloads and data wherever most appropriate– public, private or mixed environment.
Fujitsu said it anticipates savings of 30 percent or more can be achieved by the solution, which leverages the Microsoft Azure cloud platform for the majority of workloads.
Stitt said hybrid models are growing in popularity owing to flexibility to meet changing business needs. “With many organisations now taking major steps towards cloud computing rather than maintaining their own capital-intensive IT infrastructure, there’s growing recognition that there is ‘no one size fits all’ approach.
“Hybrid Cloud Services can run enterprise or government applications in Azure using data generated in one or more customer sites and hold that data securely in a location of the customer’s choice.”
Microsoft NZ Midmarket Small Business & Partners group director, Brent Kendrick, said cloud adoption is a simple question of efficiency. “We believe the best answer is a hybrid cloud solution incorporating Azure and our partners’ in-country cloud. Our combined solution equips Kiwi companies to manage their business in a mobile-first, cloud-first world.”
Late in 2014, market watcher IDC said more than 65% of enterprise IT organisations will commit to hybrid cloud technologies before 2016, ‘vastly driving the rate and pace of change in IT organisations’.
