Kiwi company the latest to target US market with healthcare solution…
Medtech Global is taking its New Zealand designed internet portal ‘Manage My Health’ into the United States with its acquisition of Consova Corporation.
Manage My Health is a secure website which receives the personal health information of an individual, uploaded from his or her doctor’s practice management system. It can be used to store other health-related information which may not be recorded, such as other treatments received, or medications taken. It allows access to personal health information from any internet device at anytime, anywhere in the world.
Medtech Global executive chairman Vino Ramayah said Manage My Health has already been trialled and customised for the US market, while the acquisition provides access to the market: “Consova has well established relationships with large US healthcare organisations like Kaiser Permanente and Cigna and it also provides solutions and services to major employers, some of whom are Fortune 500 companies in respect to health benefits management,” he explained.
Kaiser Permantente serves 10.1 million members in the US and had 2014 operation revenues of US$56.4 billion (around NZ$83.03 billion). Cigna, which has 14.5 million medical customers around the world, was ranked 97th on the 2014 Fortune 500 list.
In terms of the deal, Medtech Holdings USA has acquired all minority shares in Consova. The US company is folded into Medtech as a wholly owned subsidiary.
Medtech Global said it is funding the acquisition for a confidential sum from its own resources.
“With offices in Denver, Colorado and Nashville in Tennessee, Consova gives us immediate access to emerging healthcare innovation centres,” added Ramayah. “It provides us with a platform for growth in the largest healthcare market in the world.”
ManageMyHealth was created in Auckland and Medtech said it is being progressively rolled out in general practices in New Zealand and Australia.
