Industry first solution frees up telematics data use for all mixed fleet operators, regardless of size, and removes the need for third-party telematics hardware use…

Navman Wireless, a global leader in GPS-based fleet optimisation products and services, says it has achieved an industry-first with the launch of its consolidated telematics SaaS portal. Called Qtanium Connect, the portal provides a one-stop fleet-wide view of relevant data which has hitherto only been available to businesses with the largest budgets, and often required the installation of third-party hardware. It has been specifically designed to eliminate the need for such hardware and drive significant efficiency and profitability in the management of mixed equipment fleets across a range of industries including construction, resources and mining.

“We have a lot of internal expertise across a range of industries. We know that a common problem across industries is the management of mixed equipment fleets so we developed Qtanium Connect to solve that problem. Over the past decade, contractors with mixed fleets have been increasingly limited in their use of telematics by the fractured nature of the reporting. Only the largest fleets supported by sizable IT teams and exceptional budgets have been able to afford to consolidate the data from each original equipment manufacturer’s website,” says Ian Daniel, vice president of Asia Pacific for Navman Wireless.

Until now companies running mixed fleets have had to either log in to a separate portal for each equipment manufacturer they use or install third party hardware to aggregate the data in one place. The former method prevents a pan-data view of the fleet while the latter requires budget to install hardware even when the machines have factory-installed OEM telematics. While Daniel says it is possible to attempt to consolidate data manually, for example in an excel spreadsheet, users would miss the visual representation element.

“If you are managing a large job site, or a mine site you really need that critical information quickly,” he explains.

The Qtanium Connect system makes available in-depth jobsite analysis like fuel burn, asset use and engine management, work tool tracking, engine data reports and preventive maintenance schedules via easy-to use widgets, dashboards, maps and reports. Related information such as machine inspection data and photographs of machine damage can be imported into the system for further data consolidation.

The portal can integrate with all types of tracked equipment including generators, lighting towers, heavy construction vehicles and machinery, and, at the other end, with the majority of enterprise office systems. Being cloud-based, it is suitable for organisations of any size and budget, opening up a slew of efficiency and optimisation possibilities to companies of all sizes.

While Navman Wireless already has customers using Qtanium Connect, it could not quantify specific cost savings as yet.

The solution complies with the AEMP Telematics Data Standard.
