Spark’s Business Mail is a locally hosted cloud platform which the company said is differentiated by improved security and greater mailbox capacity.
It represents an evolution of Spark’s existing Officemail business email platform, customers of which will be upgraded to the new service from the 5 October launch date through to early December. Spark said the Officemail platform will be closed at the end of the year.
Head of Business Marketing Richard Sandford said a high-quality, high capacity and secure email system is fundamental for SME customers as they begin to do more online. “Spark Business Mail uses a business grade security system which means it’s as secure as email platforms used by major commercial organisations. It also gives customers more storage and allows them to host their data locally – something that’s vital for businesses which require their records to be kept in New Zealand.”
He said those who upgrade will see email storage increase by some 400 percent for the same money.
Spark said it will begin contacting existing Officemail customers – curiously enough, by post – this week to advise the upgrade schedule and what needs to be done to prepare for it. Broadly, said Spark, this would require a few simple updates to email settings across all devices. Those customers which don’t host domain names with Spark are also required to contact domain name providers to update records.
Spark has partnered with New Zealand owned and operated company SMX to deliver the service.
