Loyal Subway customers are breathing a huge sigh of relief as they can now ditch their Subcard from their wallets…
Subway has upgraded its successful iPhone App with a version that now provides an end-to-end loyalty card solution, and opens up Subway’s mobile ordering capability to users of phones with Android, Windows Phone and Java operating systems.
The new app relies on QR codes on the customer’s mobile phone being scanned as part of the payment transaction in-store – using either cash, or the rewards saved up on their Subcard account. The QR Code comes up on the first screen making it easy to whip out your iPhone and scan it just like you would the barcode on the card itself.
The Subway App and recent enhancement has been created by New Zealand mobile technology development company, Altaine.
According to Waren Tobin, managing director at Altaine, the upgrade has gone smoothly.
“There were a few technical issues with the initial release with regards to special characters in passwords not being recognised in all circumstances, but it has all settled down now (make sure you have the latest version). We released three platforms at once, so all in all it has been a relatively smooth rollout, although we strive to eliminate all day one issues.”
The integrated loyalty card with online ordering App is being touted as a NZ first – the loyalty integration being the new innovation.
App users can place orders from the full Subway menu, keep track of their Subcard reward dollars and gift balances, and locate their closest store based on their current location.
