Infrastructure company’s IT business systems manager plans to expand the NZSUG’s reach as Business One and SAP BusinessObjects users come onboard…

The New Zealand SAP User Group (NZSUG) has announced the appointment of Nigel Bernie as its new chairperson. Bernie is Manager IT Business Systems at Vector.

As chairperson of NZSUG, Bernie will be leading NZSUG through a period of growth and transition. Following a recent meeting in Hamilton which attracted over 60 users, NZSUG has invited the local Business One and SAP BusinessObjects user groups to join under its umbrella.

“Outgoing chair, Julian Phillips of Gallagher Group Limited has done a fantastic job getting people excited and identifying and encouraging willing participants. There’s strong interest in NZSUG and that speaks volumes considering the recession we’re moving through,” Bernie says.

“We are all seeking to understand the true value of our SAP investment and encouraging more people to share what they’ve learned is a great way of driving more value, for our own organisations and as a group.”

Bernie, who leads a team of 23 at Vector focused on providing application support across the business, including the company’s SAP investment, says he is focussed on engaging NZSUG members and broadening the range of topics the group covers.

“I’ll be working to expand the reach of NZSUG within the SAP, SAP Business One and SAP BusinessObjects communities,” he says.

“While these user groups will continue to share user knowledge in vertical streams, having them under the NZSUG framework adds a new dimension to the SAP user community in New Zealand and will bring the benefits of cross fertilisation to members of each user group.”

Bernie’s next official outing as NZSUG chair will be the group’s annual event in Auckland in November.

The other members of the NZSUG Group Executive are Julian Phillips of Gallagher Group, John Holley of Auckland Regional Council, Tim Rivett of Inland Revenue Department and Emilie Lad of Mighty River Power.
