Government owned Orcon adds another notch to its belt with the purchase of business management services provider Bizo…
The fast growing Auckland based telecommunications company aims to round off its product offering to businesses with the move.
CEO Scott Bartlett says Orcon customers can access a one-stop shop.
“This is good news for Orcon customers,” Bartlett says.
He says customer can now access top-of-the-range, reliable and well-priced managed services within an integrated telecommunications company.
Bizo, a provider to the small-to-medium enterprise market, will also benefit from a sound financial base for growth, he says.
Bizo’s 22 staff will continue to work out of its Auckland city offices but the business will operate under Orcon’s umbrella.
Bartlett says the two companies already have similar cultures and it will be business as usual for clients.
Orcon was founded by entrepreneur Seeby Woodhouse in 1996 to provide computer advice, support and early model mobile phone sales. State-owned telecommunications company Kordia, which was formally part of the TVNZ group, brought it in 2007.
Bizo was founded by Waynne Dartnall and Tim Mulcock to provide cost effective, reliable and subscription based technology for commerce via online services. It covers
digital connections, security, software and telecommunications with 24/7 support.
The purchase price is undisclosed.
“Bizo has a great reputation for providing services designed to deliver real business benefits to customers.”
Orcon provides telecommunications and internet services to residential and business customers in New Zealand with a team of 150. Its other buy ups in recent years include specialty hosting business iSERVE, dial up company Kiwi Online and ISP providers Wisenet, Dreamnet/I4U and Joynet.
