Vodafone has announced it is creating 125 local jobs by consolidating all of its contact centre operations in New Zealand…
The company will switch over from the Egyptian call centre in May. New Zealand consumer mobile customers have been dealing with the call centre since 2007. Vodafone operates three other New Zealand based contact centres, all in Auckland.
Vodafone Director of Service Kelly Moore says the move is designed to meet the changing needs of its customers.
After the recent crisis in Egypt, Vodafone had already hired an additional 100 local staff to boost its capability and cover for the call centre which at the time was temporarily closed.
The 125 new staff will join the 500-strong existing contact centre team in Auckland answering customer enquiries through a variety of channels. Moore says boosting the team by around 30 percent [actually, 25 percent Kelly – Ed] will allow them to offer a greater range of career options for their staff.
At the time that services were moved to Egypt Vodafone cited an inability to hire enough staff to meet service levels.
