Intergen’s Chris Auld shares his company’s experience with a global audience ahead of next month’s beta release of SharePoint 2010…
Microsoft solutions provider Intergen presented its expertise in migrating code before an international audience at the 2009 Microsoft SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas last week.
The conference attracted delegates from around the globe, including Microsoft New Zealand partners Enlighten Designs, Gen-i, DataSouth, Axon, Intergen, Provoke, KnowledgeCue, Aptimize, and EnvisionIT.
Chris Auld, director of strategy and innovation for Intergen, enjoyed a significant role at the event, leading a conference presentation about the mechanics of moving software programming code from Microsoft SharePoint 2007 to the new version of SharePoint 2010.
“At Intergen we’ve been working with Microsoft to build SharePoint developer tools for some time. This presentation looked at some tools that we’ve built to support developers moving to SharePoint 2010, and common issues that developers may face in upgrading,” says Auld.
In the conference keynote speech, Microsoft head Steve Ballmer announced that a public beta version of SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010 will be available in November.
He also announced new capabilities of SharePoint 2010, with three core areas including platform investments for developers, enhanced capabilities for Internet sites and choice and flexibility between on-premises and the cloud.
“By taming the overflow of information across systems and technologies, SharePoint enables organizations to thrive,” Ballmer said.
“SharePoint 2010 is the biggest and most important release of SharePoint to date. When paired with Office, SharePoint 2010 will transform efficiency by connecting workers across a single collaboration platform for business.”
