Founding NZ ISP ICONZ is now part of Plan B as the acquiring company said it is ‘creating scale as a provider of business and continuity solutions’…
ICONZ provides cloud hosted infrastructure, data centre colocation, managed networking and voice services to business and residential customers.
Plan B MD Ian Forrester described the acquisition as a ‘natural next step following our investment in managed voice and network services last year’. “It will provide additional scale across the new merged business, including access to a national data centre network of over 300 racks, and opportunities for both customer sets to access a broad range of complementary services.”
He added that Plan B provides business continuity, infrastructure and connectivity expertise to the combined business.
ICONZ GM Jack Talbot pointed to synergies between the offerings of the companies: “These are highly complementary competencies and our customers gain access to a broader portfolio of leading-edge products.”
Both organisations will continue to trade under their respective brands for the foreseeable future, while they will ‘merge their expertise to provide customers with a more robust in-depth and comprehensive service offering’.
This acquisition is part of a wider strategy following a period of growth in Plan B’s cloud services business. The combined group now offers multiple products in business continuity, telecommunications and hosted infrastructure services.
