Readies up to ink agreement with Canterbury Software Cluster…

NZTech (New Zealand Technology Industry Association) CE Graeme Muller said the agreement, slated for signing in early February, is the first ever of its type and formalises relationships to benefit both organisations, their members and the tech sector as a whole.

By working more closely with the Canterbury Software Cluster, he said NZTech will look to “increase the voice of Christchurch businesses in national activities, [while through the agreement] the Canterbury Software Cluster wants to add value to its members, and support objectives of running events which enable businesses to connect and grow.”

Christchurch has a vibrant tech sector and is one of New Zealand’s top regions for IT businesses. Local companies include listed companies SLI Systems, Diligent Board Books and Wynyard, as well as global niche players such as Tait, Trimble and Dynamic Controls.

It’s a good sense move which is arguably overdue, as Muller makes clear: “New Zealand is too small to have individual organisations which aren’t working collaboratively. Both organisations are passionate about supporting the growth of the tech sector in order to ensure New Zealanders enjoy the prosperity a vibrant technology industry brings.”

Canterbury Software Cluster chair Michael Trengrove said the opportunity to work with NZTech, with its national voice, “is a great advantage to our members in terms of raising awareness of individual companies and our local sector.”

The tech sector is the fastest growing in New Zealand and is the country’s number three export earner.
