Local company makes headway in key market of the United States…
Being named integration and interoperability partner of the Leidos Partnership is a big deal for Orion Health which, like many Kiwi companies, is seeking at least some of its fortune in the USA.
The Leidos Partnership for Defence Health will provide an electronic health record (EHR) off-the-shelf solution, integration activities and deployment across the Military Health System. The contract, known as the Defence Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM), is (unsurprisingly) designed to modernise the military’s healthcare system.
Paul Viskovich, North American President, Orion Health said the company’s team is working with the DoD to deliver an interoperable electronic health records solution for the United States armed forces. Central to this goal is Orion Health’s Rhapsody Integration Engine which facilitates interoperability between healthcare IT systems. It will provide the required link between the DoD’s Cerner EHR system and the facilities that provide care to over 50 percent of military personnel.
Orion Health CEO, Ian McCrae said Rhapsody is recognised for its ease of use, flexibility and ability to support very large projects and implementations. “Our domain knowledge in integration is opening up a number of new opportunities all around the world and this DoD contract is testament to that.”
Rhapsody, said Orion Health, is used by thousands of organisations in the United States and around the world, including hospitals, Integrated Delivery Networks, software companies, public health agencies, health information exchanges (HIE), health insurance companies and financial clearinghouses.
The integration engine provides support for a range of communication protocols and message formats, and helps interface analysts and hospital IT administrators reduce their workload while making healthcare data accessible to all stakeholders.
