All the usual suspects plus some interesting-looking new names feature in this year’s line-up of chosen ones…
A record number of new companies from across New Zealand have entered the 2016 Hi-Tech Awards. That’s according to Wayne Norrie, Chair of the Hi-Tech Trust, who said (as he seems to every year) that the standard of entries is the highest he has ever seen in 22 years of the awards.
Norrie was not the only one to comment on the calibre of the entrants, however, which span the full spectrum of the hi-tech sector from around the country. Several of the local judges reportedly commented that the quality of the entrants is at an all-time high this year. Figure.NZ and Flick Energy have impressed so much that they are listed as finalists in three categories, while a number of other companies feature in two categories each.
The Awards has attracted its fair share of first-time entrants and Norrie said that interest in the new Callaghan Innovation Maori Innovation category was of particular note. “The fact that this new category received a record number of entries is very pleasing.”
Winners in each category will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner to be held at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland on 20th May 2016.
