The finalists in this year’s CIO Awards have been announced, recognising individuals and teams who have shown leadership, innovation and foresight in their contribution to the digital transformation of both ICT and business functions.

The winners will be announced at the CIO Awards Gala Dinner, 13 June at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland, with 850 senior IT professionals expected to attend.

Finalists are interviewed by independent judges representing the top echelon of New Zealand’s ICT and business community, from former award winners to leading executives and educators. They include CIO at Foodstuffs North Island Peter Muggleston, last year’s CIO of the Year and NZTE CIO Richard Kay along with Michael Myers Professor of Information Services at the University of Auckland Business School.

“The digital transformation of New Zealand relies on the success of these individuals and their teams.”

Judging focuses on “the intersection of business and technology for both individuals and teams that have significantly contributed to driving outstanding digital transformation initiatives for the companies they work for”.

“The CIO role is evolving rapidly and these awards play an important role is showcasing the transformative work that is being done,” says IDC New Zealand Country Manager Peter Wise. “They are driving outcomes for the country as a whole, so we congratulate each finalist and wish them all the very best. The digital transformation of New Zealand’s product and service offerings relies on the success of these individuals and their teams.”

The 2018 finalists, in five categories, are:

‘CIO of the Year’, for demonstrating innovation and success in the past 12 months that reinforces the transformational role of the CIO in supporting their company’s overall business strategy.
