Job seeking on-the-go just got easier for Smartphone users…

Leading New Zealand jobs site SEEK has launched a mobile site that can only be accessed via an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Nielsen figures show 280,000 Smartphone users in New Zealand and SEEK aims to hook them ahead of competitors.

Product director Doug Blue says SEEK Mobile is geared to further meet the needs of today’s market.

He expects a significant increase to the 34000 monthly hits already received via mobile devices.

“We’ve been monitoring mobile traffic for some time, and over the last year we’ve started to see significant growth so we feel it’s the right time to launch a mobile offering,” Mr Blue says.

The number of Smartphone users is also expected to grow rapidly in the next year.

SEEK Mobile is accessed by visiting seek.co.nz on any iPhone or iPod Touch. Capabilities include searching, saving and applying for jobs.

“We’ve kept it simple and intuitive,” Mr Blue says.

“For users to be able to search, set up alerts, view their JobMail as well as saving jobs they are interested in to apply for at a time that suits them.”

Recent surveys by SEEK found that 7 out of 10 New Zealanders are open to new job opportunities.

The organisation started in 1999 and is New Zealand’s leading online employment and training site. It currently advertises 13000 vacancies.

“The New Year is a traditional time for job seeking activity and SEEK Mobile makes it easy to search for your next great job. This is another example of our dedication to making the job seeking process simple and as accessible as possible.”
